When shopping for funny t shirts you may come across many different types of funny tee shirts. You may already know of some t shirts such as your traditional funny t shirts and then the offensive tees shirts. But we’ll be looking at more than just these two because the world of t shirts literally is for ever re-inventing itself.

Funny T shirts

We all know our funny t shirts; these were the first designs that were brought out to the market. These sorts of funny t shirts can have anything from a one line cheeky slogan to a damn right funny picture of a cartoon image. Funny t shirts of this kind tend to make people happy and laugh out loud if they ever see one someone wearing it in public.

Retro T shirts

Retro, we all know what retro means. But retro means something different to everyone. What you may classify as retro from in your 80′s some young teenagers may call in ancient. But then they don’t realise the same thing will be said to them come in twenty or thirty years’ time. Retro t shirts tend to have images printed on the t shirt or slogans bought from your time, from maybe when you were born to something that is brought from your childhood. No one person or no one generation will tend to call retro the same thing.

Offensive T shirts

These sorts of t shirts are printed for trouble. Offensive t shirts will get you in trouble one way or another, well maybe not get you into trouble but will raise a few eyebrows when you wear it out in public. Teenagers may like offensive t shirts but maybe the older generation may not like seeing such a t shirt out in the public or some parents wouldn’t even like their children wearing such a kind of a t shirt. An insight as to what an offensive t shirt could do to you if you were boarding a plane and you wore a t shirt saying “Can I Take This Plan On The Snake (Arrow Point Downwards)”. Then you may be told by a flight attendant to wear something else or else you won’t be able to board the plane.

This actually happened to a guy and he really was a bit mad as it made quite a big scene. But he came to sense and he swapped his t shirt to some a bit more un-offensive. It has been said that funny or offensive or retro t shirts will differ between people’s opinions because everyone has a different laughing point to an extent.

So now you know how many different types of funny t shirts there are really out there, well if you would like to know the other funny t shirts read the part 2 which is out shortly.

A Basic Guide to Prom Dresses

Posted in Tshirts on October 14th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to comment

Are you bewildered when it comes to shopping for prom dresses? With all the types of formal gowns and dresses available, there are also many terms that describe the length, design, neckline, and style of a prom dress. You might feel overwhelmed when speaking with a sales clerk at a formal wear shop or even while shopping online for prom dresses. Below we’ve put together some helpful terms and definitions to help you be an informed shopper for prom dresses and other prom-related items of women’s interests.

Prom Dress Styles

Some of the prom dress styles you might see include the ball gown, A-line (princess), sheath, lace-covered, high-low, baby doll, chiffon, one-shoulder, empire, golden glamour, modest, and halter.

Ballroom Gowns and A-Line Prom Dresses

A ballroom gown has a very large skirt that billows out from the waist to the mid-calf or ankles. It might have a fitted waist and top or a corset type top. The A-line or princess dress flares out to the hemline and is narrow near the waist. It forms an “a” shape as it fits to your body from top to bottom.

High-Low, Lace-Covered, and Chiffon Prom Dresses

The high-low dress zigzags vertically at the hemline so it is short in some spots and long in others. The sheath prom dress is one that clings to the body and hides nothing concerning your figure. The lace-covered dress can be a satin or satin-like material underneath with lace as a top layer. Chiffon dresses look similar to a fancy night robe worn by the women of Rome or Greece. With a high empire waist, the dress is long and flows from the hips down to the ankles. It is great for almost any figure.

Baby Doll, One-Shoulder, and Sleeveless Gowns

The baby doll prom dress is typically very short and cute. It usually fits at the top and flows at the bottom with a high waistline in between. Baby doll dresses usually come with a tied ribbon or belt around the stomach area to give the “baby dress” look. One-shoulder prom dresses have only one shoulder strap, of course, with the other side being sleeveless. These are usually long and elegant gowns. There are also completely strapless formal gowns and prom dresses. These can be worn with or without a jacket or wrap.

Halter, Golden Glamour, and Modest Prom Dresses

The halter prom dress looks similar to a halter top at the sleeves and then flows toward the knees. It is usually no longer than just below the knees and may look similar to a high-low dress at the hemline. The golden glamour dress is usually shiny gold to appear like “Hollywood” style apparel. The modest prom dress is beautiful, simple, and modest. It covers everything while still giving the wearer a touch of glamour and elegance.

Types of Sleeves

Cap sleeves are short and cover only the upper arms and shoulders. Juliet sleeves are puffy at the shoulders and taper all the way to the wrist. Some sleeves start below the shoulders or appear to “hang off” the shoulders. Also, spaghetti straps are thin straps with no sleeves.

Necklines

Necklines are also important when choosing a prom dress. The empire neckline scoops out and then connects with a very high waistline. A sweetheart neckline looks like the top of a heart. A jewel neckline is simple and round, located just above the collarbone. The boat neckline (Bandeau) comes around to each collarbone, similar to a sailor’s suit.

Other Prom Terms to Know

There are also handbags, or small purses, and clutches that can match your prom dress. Clutches are small hand-held bags with no straps. Shawls and wraps are not jackets but fit around your shoulders loosely. You can wear them when outdoors during cold weather and easily remove them for dancing. A tiara is a princess-type hairpiece than can be worn with your hair up or down. There are elbow gloves and wrist gloves. Elbow gloves reach to your elbow, covering the bottom part of your arm while wrist gloves only cover the hands.

Before shopping for a prom dress, know what styles and accessories you are looking for so you can save time. Also, go online to view all the different styles available. You can even find great deals online on prom dresses by designers such as Mori Lee, Jovani, Clarisse, Niteline, Dave and Johny, Paris, Riva and Alyce Designs. There are often beautiful dresses online for the prom, homecoming, and other formal events that a local formal wear shop might not offer.

Before You Buy the Dress

Posted in Tshirts on October 14th, 2009 by admin – Be the first to comment

Teens are often avid shoppers when it comes to everyday clothes, but when it comes to buying a prom dress, they’re often lost. Prom dresses are so different than other types of clothing that unless one has experience, they can easily buy the wrong dress and feel miserable for the entire prom evening. We’ve put together some great tips on buying prom dresses and other formal dresses to help you avoid common mistakes.

What’s the Formal Occasion?

Consider the occasion before buying a formal dress. There are many occasions that might require formal wear such as the prom or other formal dance, wedding, Quinceanera, homecoming, cocktail party, Oscar award event, and so forth. Each occasion is unique. Consider what you will be doing during the evening out. Will you dance, dine, walk, sit, move around a lot, give a speech, sing? Consider how flexible your prom dress or formal gown should be before buying.

Styles of Prom Dresses and Formal Wear

Do research online to view all the styles of prom dresses before you shop. There are many different styles, colors, hem lengths, and shapes of prom dresses that you can easily find the one that will look great on you. Some of the styles you’ll find include A-line (slimming with vertical seams and flared skirt), ball gown (natural waist line and full skirt), mermaid (fits tight to the body and flares at knees), and sheath (no defined waistline and horizontal line, great for shorter people).

Prom dresses come with different types of necklines such as jewel, halter, and spaghetti straps.

To find the latest fashions and styles, check out all of the major prom dress or formal wear designers such as Jovani, Flip, Tiffany, Scala, Jessica McClintock, Alyce, and Interlude. Each year, designers are finding new unique ways to design prom dresses and make prom girls shine on their special night.

Prom Dress and Formal Wear Colors

With prom dresses, the color choices are endless. There are light colors such as light pink, yellow, white, light beige, lavender, mint green, and many others. There are darker colors such as black, silver, gold, burgundy, dark blue, and dark green. The key to finding the right color is to match the color with your skin tone, hair color, and body shape. Think about what colors usually bring the most complements when wearing your regular clothing? These are likely your best colors. They blend well with your features and make your figure look great.

Some colors make plus size women look smaller (black, bright, or dark colors) while other colors can make them look larger (light colors). The same goes for someone who wants to appear fuller figured in certain spots. Choose a color and design that look great with your particular figure. And keep in mind that what looks great on your friend might not look good on you.

With other formal dresses, such as bridesmaid dresses, homecoming dresses, Oscar dresses, and pageant dresses, you might not get to choose from a wide variety of colors. Many of these events require certain colors to blend with the decorations.

Other Things to Consider

You’ll also need to shop for a prom dress or other formal gown according to your budget. Look around for great dresses within your price range from the beginning so you won’t go overboard. There are many styles of dresses within all price ranges and depending on the designer, the quality can vary as well.

Give yourself plenty of time for alterations if needed, especially when buying a prom dress online. You can’t try it on until you receive it, so you’ll want to order early enough to get alterations done before prom if necessary. Also, consider shipping costs when buying and whether there is a guarantee.

Think ahead to how you can accessorize your prom dress or formal wear. You’ll need shoes, jewelry, hose, possibly a hairpiece, a handbag, and other accessories. Be sure the color and style you choose can be easily matched with other items.

You can shop online to find prom dresses by popular designers and choose from many styles and colors. The prices are often lower also. Online formal wear shops usually offer formal dresses for all occasions including evening dresses, summer dresses, prom dresses, homecoming dresses, and many others. Start looking early so you can secure the prom dress of your dreams.
