Love Columnist Expands Lee Hiller Designs with Her Passion for Fashion

Her store began with nature photographs taken in the mid 1990’s Erie, PA., continued with her 1999 collection of Washington DC shots which began her foray into digital photograph. If this were not enough Ms Hiller has begun a new range of designs based on her passion for fabric and fashion.

Born in Portland, Or., she knew she wanted to see the world. Her career in software as an instructional engineer took her from Oregon to the South Pacific to New Zealand to Erie, back to Portland and finally Hot Springs, Ar where she decided to settle along with her Sony Cybershot camera.

Though she began taking her wildlife and nature photography seriously in Erie, capturing squirrels, birds, flowers and trees all in their natural habitat, as far as she was concerned, she was simply enjoying the process of the creativity of photography and knew she was building a beautiful photo album.

In 2009, Lee Hiller, who was now Google’s top ranked “America’s Favorite Love Columnist” (yes she can write too), moved to Hot Springs to be with her fiancé’, Rick London. London, who had already been in Hot Springs a decade and ancestors who lived there many years ago when Al Capone settled there to open his headquarters, showed her the city and it was not long before Ms Hiller was climbing the main mountains with her Sony Cybershot capturing the local scenery and wildlife.

It did not take her long to pick up and literally run with digital designing. London, an offbeat cartoonist and designer, had been working within ten feet of her in the same home office, making gifts and after a month together looked up to find she too had begun designing items for her own store. Hiller took it a step further in that she has found a way to scan fabric, build a huge inventory and transform everything from designer shoes to Psychedelic mouse pads and retro 50s Atomic Martini Club tees, to key chains to aprons and much more. Working from her scanned collection she has created an eclectic mix of hip modern and retro designs. When ask about her inspiration she states, “My Fiancé’ Rick and his amazing designer collection of Love Quote shoes and wildly funny cartoon gifts”.

Since moving to Arkansas she ventures in to the Hot Springs National Park to capture the beauty of its many trails. In the Hot Springs Historic District she is known for her photographs of Bath House Row architecture and tiles. She even has her own section of her store at LeeHillerDesigns.com which features Hot Springs, AR on various gifts products and collectibles.

In just two short months Hiller has designed 5000+ products and won 14 TBAs (Today’s Best Award) which Zazzle gives to creators of the best products of the day. This may not seem like much but the competition is fierce with over 5 billion products a day in competition with her.

She Learned Fashion & Gift Design At Home In Oct. By Nov 5000 Items & 7 Consecutive Awards

Thanks to newly-transplanted (to Hot Springs, Ar from Portland Oregon) Lee Hiller, her camera, U.S. Keds, and the U.S. Post Office, Hot Springs is turning a lot of heads nationwide and even worldwide. Though Keds and USPS’s online associate Zazzle where Hiller houses her online shop.

A whole section has been devoted to Hot Springs architecture in photographs on products such as real U.S. Keds, real U.S. Postage stamps and matching cards, tees and caps, and many other gifts and collectibles, all featuring various Hot Springs landmarks from details on the Quapaw Bathhouse to some obscure tile on the Maurice Bathhouse, to a very noticeable green door that has stood for years across Central Avenue from all the bathhouses that made Hot Springs famous.

Hiller is not stopping at the downtown area either, though that is where she resides. Hiller is a lover of wildlife and plans trips to Lake Katherine in hopes of capturing some of the deer eating from her hand, and plans hikes up the mountain to the tower, and all the wildlife that it has to offer.

She has captured the outside of Capone’s Bar on Central, the Arlington Hotel, and plans products from The Ozark Bathhouse (now MOCA; The Museum Of Contemporary Art) which recently featured the huge gold grenade which she has photographed and added to a variety of collectible gifts such as tees, Keds, greeting cards and even mouse pads. Her near-future plans is to capture the natural beauty of Hot Springs including wildlife, nature trails, lakes and rivers, and city events, including Christmas decorations, all to be included in her product line where she proudly showcases Hot Springs, Ar. which she considers her home and “newly discovered southern self”.

Hot Springs, known as America’s fastest growing small arts community, sits in the epicenter of what physicists and scientists call “an energy vortex” cradled in the center of a beautiful valley which spews thermal hot healing mineral water attracting millions of tourists worldwide annually.
