Finding the Best Valentines Day Gift

The best is something that differs from person to person.  For some, it is filling the back seat of the car with as many red roses as you can find, tying them with four inch red satin ribbon and delivering them with a magnum of champagne at midnight.  Other extrovert gestures include serenading the lady (or man) of your dreams with an off key version of ‘My Funny Valentine’.

Ladies who work in busy offices all day will always appreciate an enormous bouquet of long stemmed, hand tied exotic flowers, delivered very publicly…the ultimate public declaration of devotion!  Men sometimes find this gesture easy to make as it does not involve an embarrassing personal appearance!

The practical approach is often the most popular with married couples – the purchase of theatre tickets or game tickets – the gift that two can share is often the nicest.

Younger kids find Valentines Day a little hard on the pocket.  Students and teenagers who earn nothing at all and are dependant on allowances find the price of Valentines gifts inhibitive and sometimes resort to home made gifts and cards.  Those with more cash to splash might invest in jewelry and expensive gadgets to say the things they need to say.  Whatever our means, Valentines Day draws the imagination for most of us.  It is that one day in the year when we can be silly if we want and say everything we want to say without risk of being called soppy or corny!

Each year, we look for better ways to express how we feel about the special people in our lives.  For those who are affectionate all the year around, saying how we feel every day is a good thing but even those people feel Valentines Day deserves extra attention!

A short stroll through any shopping mall will showcase hundreds of novelty Valentines present and cards, with shiny gift wrap and a dozen sentiments scrawled across the box.  Yet so few of them convey the right message…

A Valentines gift of love should be lasting; permanent; provide a connection back to you for the person you love and say, ‘wherever you go and whatever you do, I will always love you’.  There are not many gifts that say that, at Valentines or at any other time.  This year, take the time to purchase a gift that will still be in that special someone’s pocket on Valentines Day ten years from now…
